Meet Our Pastor

For over forty years, the Reverend and his family have been heavily involved within the United Methodist Church in Sierra Leone, London (where he lived for eight years), California, and Virginia, where they have resided since 2002. Along his journey, he's received countless encouragement from his family, congregation members, and other clergy. In the summer of 2024, he fulfilled his requirements and became a licensed local Pastor serving the United Methodist Church.
In addition to attaining his licensed local pastor certification, Reverend Moseray received his Bachelor of Arts and a diploma in education from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone; a post-graduate Diploma in Economic Development from North London Polytechnic (now North London University); Masters of Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Master of Science in Organization Development and Knowledge Management from George Mason University. Besides his academic and professional training, Reverend Moseray has attended numerous professional development training courses within the past twenty years while managing and providing oversight for government-funded programs at both local and national levels. "I believe that through all these different experiences, God has been preparing me to shepherd his sheep, for which I am thankful to Him," he says.
Reverend Moseray started his shepherding as the Pastor of Galloway United Methodist Church (GUMC) on July 1, 2024. He is supported on this new journey by Stella Moseray, his wife of 42 years. The two have four beautiful daughters who have given them four wonderful grandchildren, all who are currently residing in the United States.
As the pastor of GUMC, Pastor Moseray's focus, and that of the congregation, is to continue to "WIN SOULS FOR CHRIST, FOR THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE WORLD." We intend to achieve this goal by reaching out and engaging with our Falls Church neighbors and beyond. From our Pastor:
If and when you want someone to listen to you, pray with and for you, and give you words of encouragement please do not hesitate to call or email me.
I pray that you all experience the true love and peace that comes from our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.
Reverend Joseph Moseray
Reverend Joseph Moseray began his Christian journey in 1970. Born to a Muslim family in Sierra Leone, he was first introduced to the Christian faith when he became friends with the teenage son of a German missionary couple stationed in his city. His friend encouraged him and he came to love attending Bible studies with him on Sundays. Before returning to their home country, the family introduced Reverend Moseray to Stanley and Helen Trebes, American missionaries stationed in Bo, Sierra Leone. The Trebeses took him into their home and treated him as their son. Under their tutelage, Reverend Moseray was baptized and confirmed at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Bo.
A few months after his confirmation, Dr. Lowell Gess, an American missionary Ophthalmologist living in Sierra, removed a growth from Reverend Moseray's right eye and sent the specimen to the USA for medical tests. The results indicated that the mass was cancerous. He was presented with one option, removal of his right eye. However, if the cancer had already spread, the prognosis would be death. He resisted all advice to remove his eye and instead believed God would heal him. He remained steadfast in his belief that God loves him as he learned in his Bible studies. This was the beginning of his conversation and dedication to Christ - and because of his faith, he still lives today.
